What to Expect on Your First Visit

Your first visit to King's Lodge is not a formal interview. It is an opportunity to see our home, meet our team, and decide whether this feels right. Here is what typically happens:

  • You will be welcomed at reception and offered tea or coffee
  • A senior member of staff will give you a guided tour of the building
  • You will see the bedrooms, communal areas, gym, sensory room, and gardens
  • You are likely to meet some of our residents and their families
  • The three therapy dogs will almost certainly introduce themselves
  • There will be time to ask questions, as many as you need
  • If you time your visit around a mealtime, you can see Chef Margaret's kitchen in action

There is no pressure. No hard sell. We want you to leave feeling informed and, ideally, reassured.

What to Bring

For a first visit, you do not need to bring anything specific. If you are visiting a resident who has already moved in, here are some things families often bring:

  • Photographs or personal items for their room
  • Favourite snacks or treats (check with staff regarding dietary needs)
  • Comfortable clothing and personal toiletries
  • Books, magazines, or music they enjoy
  • Any medical documentation or letters if relevant to ongoing care

Visiting Hours

We welcome visitors and encourage families to visit as often as they wish. While we appreciate advance notice so we can ensure the best experience, you are always welcome. Please call ahead if you plan to visit outside normal daytime hours so we can make arrangements.
