Our approach to admissions
King’s Lodge admits adults with complex neurological and physical care needs. Every admission begins with a careful assessment, because the most important question we ask is a simple one: can we genuinely meet this person's needs and help them live well?
We never admit someone we cannot care for properly. If we are not the right home, we will say so honestly and, where we can, help you find somewhere that is.
Assessment before admission
A senior member of our clinical team carries out a pre-admission assessment. This can take place in hospital, at home, or wherever the person currently is. We review clinical needs, mobility, communication, nutrition, and the things that make life meaningful for that person.
The assessment is free and carries no obligation. Its purpose is to make sure any move to King’s Lodge is the right one, for the resident and for their family.
Funding routes we accept
We accept residents funded through NHS Continuing Healthcare, Integrated Care Boards, local authority social care, and private (self-funded) arrangements. We are happy to talk through funding options and to work alongside commissioners and social workers.
Costs depend on individual needs, so we discuss fees openly and in writing before any admission.
Making the decision
Once the assessment is complete, we confirm in writing whether we can offer a placement, what the care plan would involve, and the terms of residence. Where a room is available, we aim to move quickly and calmly, so that the transition is as gentle as possible.
Admissions are made without regard to race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability. We are committed to equality and to treating every enquiry with the same respect.
Trial stays and reviews
Where it helps, we can arrange a trial period or a respite stay so that everyone can be sure King’s Lodge is the right fit. Every placement is reviewed regularly, and we keep families involved at every step.
